Real life Somali pirates attack a US cargo ship with an unbeatable captain and crew
You hear it on the news, you see it on TV but what goes on thousands of miles in the ocean is an experience that has no substitute. There are no hills that you can climb, no roads to run away on, no fences to cross,no escape routes. Just the empty vastness of the sea.
Captain Phillips is an intense film based on the true story of Captain Richard Phillips, his crew and their voyage through the Indian ocean during which they come under attack by a group of somali pirates waiting for a payday.
What I liked about the film was that there was drama every step of the way. The beginning was a bit hazy and lack of subtitles in the initial part of the film meant that it was hard to stay attentive to the plot (either that, or I have ADD) but as the film progressed that created a slight mystery element. Alright, I’m not going to throw in any spoilers here for the good people who haven’t watched it yet, but it was a very gratifying movie to watch. Every mystery led to another, and the even flow of the film meant that I was on the edge of my seat for 134 minutes.
